Skyesports announces Skyesports BGMI Championship 2024 for BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA

Skyesports, a premier global IP and community builder for gaming and esports, has announced the return of the Skyesports BGMI Championship 2024 for BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA. Established in 2019, the Skyesports Championship has grown to become India’s longest-running homegrown esports intellectual property.

Building on the success of previous years, the 2024 edition promises to continue the tournament’s legacy of fostering grassroots talent with its motto of providing a #PathToPro. Therefore, open qualifiers will allow aspiring players to showcase their skills, culminating in a thrilling LAN event with top teams scheduled for December 14 and 15, 2024 at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium, Bangalore.

Skyesports BGMI Championship 2024 is the most-watched third-party tournament

The Skyesports BGMI Championship 2024 has consistently delivered impressive viewership numbers, and the BGMI esports events held in the IP have collectively amassed over 5 million watch hours. The Skyesports Championship 3.0 – BGMI, held in 2021, continues to rank as the most watched third-party BGMI esports tournament to date by Watch Hours, per Esports Charts.

The Skyesports Championship boasts a rich legacy with standout moments, such as cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar honoring the winners of the Skyesports Championship 3.0, Godlike Esports, during an iconic ceremony in Mumbai. The 2023 edition was no less spectacular, held at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, where Blind Esports claimed victory, as more than 12,000 people attended the event across the three days.

Grand Finals will be a LAN event in Bangalore, registration ongoing

Registrations for the Skyesports Championship 2024 are currently open on the Skyesports Discord Server. All players aged 16+ and residing in India can form teams to register for the tournament.

According to the State of India Gaming Report 2023 by Lumikai and Google, India’s gaming industry generated $3.1 billion in FY23 and is expected to grow to $7.5 billion by FY28, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20%. Additionally, data from Niko Partners shows that India has 453 million gamers in 2023, making it the second-largest gaming market globally after China. By 2028, India is projected to surpass China, with an estimated 730 million gamers.

The Skyesports Championship are among the multi-game esports IPs by Skyesports leveraging this growth. Earlier this year, the Counter-Strike 2 esports tournament happened from July 23 to 28 in Mumbai, India with a prize pool of INR 2.9 Crore.
